The development of Mayan Weddings was motivated by wanting to offer something different, breaking the mold of what was typically offered for Weddings in Mexico, more specifically, Cancun and the Riviera Maya.

I’ve gained incredible insight having spent the better part of 20 years planning Destination Weddings at hotels and resorts in Mexico and witnessed first-hand the creation of in-house weddings departments; offering ready-made wedding packages that simplified the process, hiring onsite wedding coordinators to answer all your questions and further developing their properties to include more unique wedding venues. With so many hotels wanting to capture a piece of this emerging market, the competition was fierce and  hotels were forced to reinvent new and exciting ways to entice you to their properties and really, they deserve a lot of credit for propelling the Destination Wedding Industry forward this past decade.

My success at SunLovers Travel was a direct result of my partnerships with many of these innovative resort chains and as their business grew, so did mine. As Resorts evolved, they soon realized if they offered more and more services as part of their all-inclusive concept, they would attract a larger audience and there would be no need to leave the property. I like many others were swept away with the premium amenities and wow factor this new breed of All-Inclusives introduced but I found myself a little disillusioned when it came to Weddings.

During this time, I had what I consider to be an inspired idea. What if I offered Weddings in private locations in the Riviera Maya? I got goosebumps and yelled out “that’s it!”. Providing an alternative for couples’ who were seeking a more authentic and unique experience.

I remember thinking, how hard could this be? I already had an established Travel Agency specializing in Destination Weddings, won numerous awards for my innovation and contributions within the Travel and Wedding Industries respectively and had hundreds of happy clients raving about my service. Looking back I see now how naïve I was, no idea it would take me nearly 8 years to bring my vision to life. Countless trips from Canada exploring wedding venues, networking with local wedding professionals, vendors and suppliers and ultimately assembling an incredible team dedicated to creating your ultimate Mexico Wedding.

We are not the first wedding planning company in the Riviera Maya nor will we be the last but, we bring something that no one else can – an International clients’ perspective. Having serviced couples from North America and abroad throughout my career, I am sensitive to the needs and overall experience they expect. We offer VIP treatment to all our clients complete with concierge service and a dedicated team to support you. We don’t just meet expectations, we exceed them! And just to make sure I covered all the basis, in July 2019 I went all in and moved to Cancun, establishing Mayan Weddings as your local Wedding Planning Company.
